Most electronic resources provided by the Library are governed by license agreements with publishers and/or vendors. The majority of licenses contain the following user responsibilites and access restrictions:

1. The "fair use" provision of the US Copyright Act applies to electronic formats as well as print. See United States Copyright Office Circular 21, Reproduction of Copyrighted Works by Educators and Librarians

2. Downloading excessive portions of databases or electronic journals is prohibited.

3. Posting downloaded material on a website or to an email list is prohibited.

4. Use of material for commercial purposes is prohibited.

5. Material may not be modified or altered; publisher's copyright statements and logos may not be removed.

Publishers/Vendors may have additional "terms and conditions" posted on their websites. If you have any questions about your intended use of electronic material, please consult those sites.
